Diminishing Tiles

What is a Diminishing Tile?

Diminishing Tiles are a form of natural slate and stone tiles that come in random sizes from the quarry.

The slates are then organised by size and installed using a ‘Diminishing Course’ technique, meaning the largest slates are laid at the bottom and each subsequent course is laid using increasingly smaller slates as they reach the top.

This approach to tiling is particularly popular when strict

While this requires careful calculation and measurement before any slates are laid to ensure consistency of finish and a sense of balance over the whole roof.

Here you can see we have used Bradstone Conservation roofing slates provided by Aggregate Industries UK. "These tiles are visually authentic, long-lasting cost-effective slates, specifically developed to meet the stringent demands of conservation planning areas."
